Canon EOS C50 Cinema Camera
The Canon EOS C50 is a compact and powerful cinema camera designed to be the ultimate hybrid tool for creators. Featuring a newly developed 7K full-frame CMOS sensor, it’s capable of capturing stunning cinematic video and high-resolution stills, all in one intuitive and portable body.
Unprecedented Video and Photo Capabilities
7K Full-Frame Sensor: The C50’s 7K back-illuminated full-frame CMOS sensor delivers incredibly clean images with over 15 stops of dynamic range. This allows for internal raw recording up to 7K60, providing incredible flexibility for reframing and oversampling for stunning 4K footage.
Open Gate Recording: The C50 is the first in the Cinema EOS line to offer 3:2 Open Gate sensor mode, which utilizes the full dimensions of the sensor. This is ideal for shooting with anamorphic lenses and provides maximum flexibility for cropping and reframing your footage in post-production.
Internal Raw and High Frame Rate Recording: The camera can record 7K60 Cinema RAW Light as well as XF-AVC in 10-bit 4:2:2. You can also shoot high frame rate video up to 4K120 and 2K180, perfect for cinematic slow-motion.
Hybrid Shooting: With a simple switch, the C50 transforms from a cinema camera into a full-featured mirrorless camera. It can capture sharp 32MP stills and shoot at up to 40 frames per second, borrowing the familiar menu system from Canon’s EOS R series for a seamless hybrid workflow.
Advanced Features for a Professional Workflow
Dual-Pixel CMOS AF II: The advanced Dual-Pixel CMOS AF II system provides fast and precise autofocus, even at high frame rates. Its deep learning technology can automatically detect and track the eyes of humans, animals, and even birds, ensuring your subject stays in focus no matter what.
Simultaneous Crop Recording: The C50 can automatically crop your footage for social media platforms, saving a 2K version in your selected aspect ratio (9:16 or 1:1) at the same time as your main recording. This feature significantly speeds up your workflow.
Frame.io Camera-to-Cloud Integration: With native support for Frame.io, you can instantly send proxy files to the cloud right after recording. This streamlines post-production, allowing for remote viewing, sharing, and editing.
Comprehensive Connectivity: The camera comes with a detachable top handle that includes two 3-pin XLR inputs with phantom power. The body also features a wide variety of ports, including HDMI, timecode, and USB-C, to build a rig that suits any production need.
XC Protocol and Remote Control: Built-in Wi-Fi and XC Protocol support allow for remote control via Canon’s IP-based control units or third-party panels. The C50 also supports direct IP streaming for live broadcast applications.
