The Canon RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM is an ultra-compact, featherweight standard zoom lens engineered specifically for Canon EOS R-series full-frame mirrorless cameras (providing a 38.4-80mm equivalent focal range when paired with APS-C bodies). Purpose-built for daily walkaround shooting, travel photography, vlogging, and handheld content creation, this optic covers wide-angle landscapes and street framing at 24mm through natural standard perspectives at 50mm. Designed with a space-saving retractable barrel mechanism, it collapses down to just 2.3 inches in length and weighs only 7.4 ounces, making it an ideal lightweight pairing for compact bodies like the EOS R8 and EOS RP without adding burdensome bulk to your carry bag.

Optical performance is anchored by an 8-element in 8-group configuration featuring two precision-molded aspherical elements to correct spherical aberrations, field curvature, and distortion across the focal span. Individual lens surfaces are treated with Canon’s Super Spectra multi-coating to suppress ghosting and internal flare, preserving clean micro-contrast and accurate color fidelity under harsh midday sun. Handheld shooting is stabilized by an onboard Optical Image Stabilizer (IS) offering up to 4.5 stops of standalone shake correction, expanding up to 7.0 stops of Coordinated IS when mounted on EOS R bodies equipped with In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS). Autofocus is powered by a smooth lead-screw type STM stepping motor, delivering swift, quiet, and reliable tracking for still capture alongside seamless Movie Servo AF focus transitions for video. Featuring a dual-function control/focus ring and a standard 58mm front accessory thread, this versatile RF zoom delivers capable everyday performance in an agile footprint.
