With its newly designed 61MP Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor, the a7R IVA ventures into the realm of unparalleled resolution. This full-frame sensor, featuring a back-illuminated structure, delivers astonishing clarity, low noise levels, and an expansive 15-stop dynamic range. A copper wiring layer has been integrated to significantly enhance data transmission speed, allowing the creation of 14-bit, high-resolution 61MP stills. The native sensitivity range spans from ISO 100-32000, expandable to ISO 50-102400, for excellent low-light performance.

The camera incorporates the powerful BIONZ X image processor, which enables rapid continuous shooting, seamless 4K video recording, and advanced autofocus tracking. The high-speed processing capabilities minimize rolling shutter effects and other motion distortions, resulting in clean and smooth rendering of moving subjects.

Pixel Shift Multi Shooting: Unprecedented Detail

Pushing the boundaries of resolution even further, the a7R IVA introduces the innovative Pixel Shift Multi Shooting mode. Leveraging the sensor-shift image stabilization system, this mode precisely shifts the sensor while capturing 16 consecutive exposures. By combining this information, the camera acquires approximately 240.8MP of data, resulting in unparalleled color accuracy and intricate detail. The resulting composite image reaches an impressive size of 19,008 x 12,672 pixels. These files can be seamlessly merged during post-production using the Sony Imaging software suite.

The updated Fast Hybrid AF system employs an array of 567 phase-detection points, covering an astounding 99.7% of the frame’s height and 74% of its width. 30p or 24p.

The camera’s uncompressed HDMI output supports the connection of optional external recorders for clean 4K recording with 4:2:2 sampling. Additionally, you can extract 8MP stills from recorded movies, creating separate image files.

Take control of your color grading with S-Log3 and HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) support. HLG enables recording within a wide color gamut, facilitating direct production of HDR-ready content. S-Log3 expands the dynamic range by 14+ stops, offering increased grading control in shadow to mid-tone regions.

Powered by the NP-FZ100 battery, which is shared with its predecessor, the a7R IVA provides an impressive battery life. Capture approximately 530 shots per charge with the electronic viewfinder or 660 shots using the rear LCD.
