The electronically controlled Power Zoom mechanism allows for smooth zooming during takes, with control options available on the lens body or select camera bodies.
Power Zoom can be combined with Sony camera’s Clear Image Zoom function, extending the effective reach up to 2x while preserving image quality. When the lens’s zoom speed is set to Slow and controlled remotely from the camera body, the transition from optical zoom to Clear Image Zoom is seamless.

The Power Zoom mechanism utilizes four XD linear motors for precise, fast, and quiet zooming.
